Pretty Good Solitaire version 12.1 Now Available

A new release of Pretty Good Solitaire (for Windows) is now available.
Version 12.1 is available for download from
http://www.goodsol.com/download.html .

Version 12.1 contains 10 new games, bringing the total number of games
to 710. The other changes include bug fixes and improved Vista
performance.

The new games are Chinese FreeCell, Double Limited, Endless Harp, Jacks in
the Box, Private Lane, Quadrennial, Rueil, Sixteen Piles, Succession, and
Trigon Left.

UPGRADES
Pretty Good Solitaire version 12.1 is a free update for those who
originally ordered versions 10 through 12 in 2005 or later, or those who
paid for an upgrade during that time. However, it is not a free upgrade for
those who originally ordered version 9 or earlier.

The quick way to determine whether version 12 is a free upgrade for you is
to look at your registration code. If your registration code starts with "27",
"24", "2p", "2r", or "2m", the upgrade is free and your registration code will work in version 12. Otherwise, you will need to upgrade to play version 12.
If your registration code starts with "22" or "2u", version 11 was a free
upgrade but version 12 is not.

Upgrades are still only US$11.95. Note that we always keep older versions
available at http://www.goodsol.com/downloadpre.html for those who
prefer not to upgrade.

If you qualify for a free upgrade, your registration code will work in the
new version. Normally Pretty Good Solitaire should register itself if it
finds a registered copy of one of these older versions. If not and you have
lost your code, you can request that your registration code be sent to you
again from http://www.goodsol.com/regusers.html .

Featured Game - Sixteen Piles
-----------------------------

Sixteen Piles is one of the new games in Pretty Good Solitaire. It is a Fan
type game.

At the beginning of the game, the 4 Aces are dealt to the foundations and
the remaining cards are dealt 3 each to 16 tableau piles. All of the cards are
face up and dealt in fans similar to the games Fan or La Belle Lucie.

The foundation piles are built up in suit from the Aces to Kings, as usual. The
game is won when all cards have been moved to the foundations.

The building in the tableau is rather different from most fan type games.
Rather than building down, tableau piles are built by playing cards only on
other cards of the same rank. For example, you play a Four on any other
Four. Empty spaces in the tableau are not filled.

After all possible plays have been made, redeal by clicking on the green
arrow in the upper left corner. All the cards in the tableau fans are
reshuffled. The reshuffle works in the same way as in the game La Belle
Lucie. There are two redeals.
