It is one of the 99 new games in Pretty Good Solitaire Mac Edition. At the start of the game, eight cards are dealt one each to eight tableau piles. The remainder of the cards form a stock, which is turned over one card at a time to a waste pile. The top card of the waste is available for play on the foundations. Cards in the tableau are built up regardless of suit, wrapping from King to Ace as necessary. One one card at a time may be moved. Spaces in the tableau may be filled by any card. The tableau piles also act as foundation piles. The objective of the game is to get all of the cards into the tableau, putting them in ascending sequence of 13 cards, regardless of suit. It does not matter what rank each pile starts with, you just build the pile up to contain 13 cards. Each pile can start with a different rank, it doesn't matter. You just want to create 8 piles of 13 cards all of which are in sequence up by rank. This turns out to be a lot harder than it sounds. German Patience is fiendishly difficult. On the top scores list for the game, only about one percent of all games have been won. There is actually a great amount of room for skill in this game, as I would expect that the game can theoretically be won quite often. It's a good idea to create empty spaces and leave some piles empty, as the empty piles are useful for transferring groups. I tend to concentrate on building a small group of piles out completely first before expanding out to more piles. German Patience is one of the 725 games in Pretty Good Solitaire for Windows, which can be downloaded from http://www.goodsol.com/download.html . It is also one of the 200 games in Pretty Good Solitaire Mac Edition at http://www.goodsol.com/mac/download.html For more featured games, see the Solitaire Spotlight at http://www.solitairegames.com/spotlight.html ------------------------------------------ Thomas Warfield - Software Designer - support@goodsol.com Anne Warfield - Order Fulfillment - orders@goodsol.com ©2009 Goodsol Development Inc.
