Citadel is a one deck Beleaguered Castle type game.

How to Play

There are four foundation piles. These piles are built up from Ace to King in suit. When all the cards are moved here, the game is won.

At the start of the game the four Aces are dealt to start the foundation piles. The remainder of the deck is dealt face up six cards each to eight tableau piles. Since all of the cards are face up, Citadel is an open game. As the cards are dealt out, any cards that can be moved to the foundations are moved there. This results in a number of cards already on the foundations before you begin play, which makes Citadel easier than Beleaguered Castle.

Building in the eight tableau piles is down regardless of suit. Only one card may be moved at a time. Spaces may be filled by any available card.

An average player wins Citadel about 50% of the time.
