1 Deck. Medium (30%). Mostly Skill.  

Object
To move all the cards to the foundations.

Layout
·4 foundation piles (top) - build up in suit from the rank of the first card moved to the first pile, wrapping from King to Ace as necessary, until each pile contains 13 cards.  

·10 tableau piles (below foundations) - build up or down by suit. Only the top card of each pile is available for play. Spaces may be filled by any available card. At the start of the game 6 cards each are dealt to the first 2 piles, 5 cards each to the remaining piles.

Notes
·To begin the game, choose a card to move to the first foundation pile (far left at top). All the other foundation piles will then begin with the same rank as this card.  

History
Chessboard is a variation of Fortress, which is a variation of Beleaguered Castle. The difference between Fortress and Chessboard is that Chessboard gives you the choice of the first foundation card.
