| · | 8 foundation piles (across top) - build up regardless of suit from Ace to King.

| · | 8 tableau piles (below foundations) - build up or down regardless of suit. Top card is available for play on the foundations or another tableau pile. Spaces are filled by any card. At the start of the game 13 cards are dealt to each pile.

| · | During the deal if a card can be played to the foundation directly above it, it is played there. Hence many of the foundations will already have several cards in them at the beginning of the game.
