Pretty Good Solitaire Addicts

The The Ten Thousand Club is the elite of solitaire addicts. Each player on this list has played more than 10,000 games of a particular solitaire game. In most cases, it has taken years to achieve this total.

One player, Brian Retka, has managed to get on the list twice with two different games. He does it by playing Pretty Good Solitaire nearly every night.

> The Five Thousand Club

Players who have played more than 10,000 games clearly choose games of two different types. They either play very easy-to-win games like FreeCell, Needle, or Towers, or they play very difficult to win games like Russian Solitaire or Golf. In fact, Russian Solitaire (and it's close cousin Yukon) is the game of choice for nearly half the list. Russian Solitaire can be played quite quickly. Often you will reach an unwinnable position very fast, which allows you to just move on to the next game.

How do these players do it?

Mary ODonoghue, a retired teacher in Ireland plays in nearly all her spare time, playing not only Russian Solitaire but games like Unlimited, Algerian Patience, and Penguin.

Diane Bell plays Towers every day. She started from game number 1 and is working her way up in game number sequence.

Charlie Craft plays Golf because he can play each game very quickly, but it is very hard to win (it is like Russian Solitaire in that respect).
