How to transfer statistics from one computer or version to another

When installing a new version on a machine that has a registered previous version, Pretty Good Solitaire should normally find the old version and transfer your old statistics to the new version automatically.

However, if it does not or if you need to transfer statistics from one computer to another computer, you can transfer the data as below.

For Pretty Good Solitaire version 7.2.0 and below:

If you still have the installation setup file, just use it to install on the new computer. If not, download it from our download page and install. To copy your settings and statistics, create a player with the same name as on the old computer on the new computer. Then copy the entire contents of the Games folder under the main program folder (usually C:\Program Files\goodsol01\Games) to the new computer from the old.

For Pretty Good Solitaire version 8.0.0 and higher:

The location of the data folder for Pretty Good Solitaire 500 was changed to comply with new Microsoft standards.

To copy your statistics from an older version to Pretty Good Solitaire 500:

1) Copy the entire contents of the Games folder under the main program folder of the older version (for the Quest Edition, this would usually be C:\Program Files\goodsol01\Games).

2) Copy the files to the new data folder. In Windows 98/ME, this is usually the C:\Windows\Application Data\Goodsol\Pretty Good Solitaire folder. In Windows NT/2000 and XP, it is usually the C:\Documents and Settings\[Windows User Name]\Application Data\Goodsol\Pretty Good Solitaire folder, where [Windows User Name] is your user name for Windows.
