Suspenseful

Top  Previous  Next

1 Deck.  Easy (63%)  Mostly Skill.

Object

To move all the cards to the foundations.

Layout

4 foundation piles (top left, with X's) - build up in suit from first card (comes from center card of Groups below), wrapping from King to Ace as necessary.

4 Groups (below foundations) - Each group contains 6 cards in a pyramid formation.  The middle card (the center)  is face down.  The two cards to either side of the center are the Wings.  When uncovered, the center is turned over automatically and becomes the base card of a foundation pile.  Only cards that are not blocked by another card are available.  Available cards in Groups can be played to the foundations, tableau, or waste, if possible.  Wing cards, when removed, can be replaced by a single card.

4 tableau piles (far right) - build down in suit, wrapping from Ace to King as necessary. Groups of cards may be moved regardless of sequence.  Spaces can be filled by any card or group of cards. Top card is available for play on the foundations, waste, or Wings.  At the start of the game 6 cards are dealt face up to each pile.

stock (right of foundations, face down) - turn over 1 card at a time to the waste by clicking.  Two redeals.

waste (next to stock) - top card is available for play on foundations, tableau, or Wings.  Cards may be built up or down regardless of suit, wrapping from King to Ace or Ace to King as necessary.

Options

AutoPlay

Notes

The 4 center cards of the Groups will always be of different suits.

Wing cards of the Groups are essentially free cells for cards, as in FreeCell.

Tips

It is necessary to uncover the center cards (foundation base cards) as quickly as possible.  Play cards to the waste as necessary to uncover the center cards.  Once you get all the foundations started, then you will want to get the cards out of the waste pile again.

History

Suspenseful is loosely based on the game Suspense from Albert H. Morehead & Geoffrey Mott-Smith's book The Complete Book of Solitaire & Patience Games. The layout is similar, but the rules have been greatly modified.
