Top  Previous  Next

2 Decks.  Medium (70%).  Mostly Skill.

Object

To group all the cards in sets of 13 cards in sequence down in suit from King to Ace within the tableau.

Layout

10 tableau piles - build down regardless of suit.  Groups of cards in sequence down in color may be moved as a unit.  A space can be filled by any card or legal group of cards.  At the start of the game 6 cards are dealt to the first 4 piles, and 5 cards to the remaining piles.  Only the top card is face up.

stock (top left, face down) - deals 1 card to each tableau pile by clicking.  All tableau piles must have at least one card in them before you can do this.

Notes

The objective is to group all the cards in sets of 13 cards, from King to Ace down in suit.  Whenever such a group is formed in a pile, it is automatically removed from play.

When the stock is empty and you are unable to form the tableaus into sets of 13 cards of each suit, the game is lost.

History

Tarantula is a variation of the classic game Spider.  The difference between Spider and Tarantula is that in Spider only groups of cards down in suit may be moved, while in Tarantula any group in sequence down in color may be moved.  This makes Tarantula easier than Spider, but harder than Black Widow.
