Catalan is a variation of the games Spanish Patience and Castles in Spain.

How to Play

Catalan is a one deck open game. An open game means that all of the cards are dealt out face up at the start the game. The entire deck is dealt out to 13 tableau piles, 4 cards to a pile all face up and visible.. There is an additional 14th tableau pile that starts the game empty.

There are four foundation pile which will be built up in suit from Aces to Kings. The game is won when all the cards are moved up to the foundations.

In the tableau, building is down by alternate color. Only one card at a time may be moved. Spaces may be filled only by a King.

Catalan is like Castles in Spain except there is the additional 14th tableau pile and only Kings may be moved to a space rather than any card. It is also very similar to Spanish Patience and the classic game Baker's Dozen.
