Demon is a two deck variation of the classic game Canfield.
There are eight foundation piles. These piles are to be built up in suit from the rank of the first card dealt at the start of the game to the first foundation pile, wrapping from King to Ace as necessary, until each pile contains 13 cards. The game is won when all of the cards are moved here.
There are eight tableau piles. At the start of the game, one card is dealt face up to each pile. Forty cards are then dealt to a single reserve pile. The top card of the reserve pile is available for play.
In the tableau building is down by alternate color. Moves groups of cards if they are in sequence down by alternate color. Spaces are filled from the reserve if possible, then filled by any card after the reserve is empty.
The remaining cards form a stock. Turn over 3 cards at a time from the stock to the waste by clicking. There are unlimited redeals.
Since there are so many cards in the reserve, it is crucial to play to create spaces in the tableau to get cards out of the reserve. Other than that, play is exactly like Canfield. An average player can with Demon about 80% of the time, but much better scores are possible.
