Knitting Pairs is a new Addition type game in version 16 of Pretty Good Solitaire for Windows.
Knitting Pairs begins with a tableau just like the game Crazy Quilt. At the start of the game 36 cards are dealt out in an 6x6 square, with every other card rotated 90 degrees. Only cards which have a short side not blocked by another card are available. In the initial configuration, 12 of the cards on the outside edge are available.
Play consists of pairing cards of the same rank, such as two Jacks. As cards are removed, interior cards will become available. Available cards from the tableau or reserve can be paired.
There are also four reserve piles. At the start of the game 4 cards are dealt face up to each pile. There is no building, the top card is available for pairing with the tableau . Two cards from the reserve piles cannot be paired with each other.
Finally, the remainder of the deck forms a stock. Clicking on the stock turns over one card at a time to the waste pile. The top card of the waste pile is available for play on the foundations or tableau. There is one redeal.
Although the tableau is like the game Crazy Quilt, as far as game play is concerned Knitting Pairs is more like Pyramid or other Addition type matching games.
