At the start of the game, cards are dealt to ten tableau piles, one card to the first pile, two cards to the second pile, and so on up to ten cards to the tenth pile. All the cards are dealt face up. There will be eight foundations piles, founded by Aces when they are available and built up in suit from the Aces to Kings. The remainder of the cards form a stock, which is turned over three cards at a time to a waste pile. The top card of the waste pile is available for play on the tableau piles and foundations.
Building in the tableau piles is down regardless of suit. However, only groups of cards in sequence down by suit can be moved as a group (this is like the group moving rules in Spider).
There is one redeal of the stock. The game is won when all the cards have been moved to the foundations.
Lady Jane is a very easy game to win, an average player can win it 99% of the time. A good player can play it thousands of times in a row without a defeat.
Lady Jane was invented by Thomas Warfield.
