Dear Solitaire Player,
Will o the Wisp is a difficult one deck game with features of Spiderette and EastHaven.
My version of Will o the Wisp in Pretty Good Solitaire allows you to play offline, full screen, with complete undo and my unique right click quick move. It's the best way to play solitaire!
There are seven tableau piles. Cards are built down regardless of suit. Groups of cards in sequence down in suit may be moved as a unit. A space can be filled by any card or legal group of cards. At the start of the game three cards are dealt to each pile, two face down and one face up.
The remainder of the cards form a stock. Clicking on the stock deals one card to each tableau pile. Like Spider, all empty spaces must be filled before a deal.
The objective is to create sequences of 13 cards down in suit. When a sequence from King to Ace is formed, it will automatically be removed from play, again as in the game Spider.
Same suit sequences should be preferred even though building is down regardless of suit. The object is to build down in suit sequences.
Will o' the Wisp is a variation of Spiderette where the cards are dealt in the same fashion as EastHaven. With fewer face down cards to clear, the game becomes slightly easier. It is a fairly hard game, an average player wins only about 15% of the time.
